(Sofia, 11 May, 2009) The super model of Chanel Carmen Kaas will be special guest of the fifth edition of the super chess tournament M-Tel Masters. The competition will start on 12 May on the square in front of the National Theatre Ivan Vazov. Till 23 May for the title will compete the leader in the world ranking Veselin Topalov, Magnus Carslen from Norway, last year's winner Vassily Ivanchuk from Ukraine, Leinier Dominguez from Cuba, Alexei Shirov from Spain and Yue Wang from China. The average ELO of the participants is 2755, which makes the tournament FIDE 21st category. Only five chess competitions so far have been of that rank.
The chair of the Estonian Chess Federation and one of the most famous faces of Christian Dior will arrive in Sofia by invitation of the organizers of the tournament. The most famous model among the chess players and the best chess player among the models will draw the lots for M-Tel Masters.
The official start of the competition will be given at a press conference at 12:00 local time on 12 May in Sofia Hall of Grand Hotel Sofia. Immediately after that the chief arbiter Joaquin Espejo from Spain and Carmen Kaas will decide the opponents in the first round which will be on 13 May and will start at 16:00. This year the tournament will be played in the open - in a glass pavilion on the square in front of the National Theatre Ivan Vazov.
Carmen Kaas becomes a model at the age of 18 when Italian managers notice her in a shop in Talin and invite her to work for Milano's most famous fashion brands. She has been a model of Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Calvin Klein and was on the covers of magazines like Vogue, Elle, Madame Figaro, etc. Since 2004 she is the president of the Estionian Chess Federation.
